This fall, we’re putting on the most inclusive, accessible, authentic live show — “I AM” Inclusive Runway Show.
This show centers around the phrase “I AM.” I AM gives our team and participants the opportunity to create their own narratives. A narrative that is not based on stereotypes, misconceptions or what society has labeled them as.
I AM is all about empowerment, confidence and courage to be unapologetically you in whatever space you take up.
Come and be part of this empowering event that promotes acceptance and celebrates the beauty of our differences. Mark your calendars and get ready to immerse yourself in the I AM: Inclusive Fashion Experience!
When: October 8th, 2023 | 5:00PM PT
Where: Light Space Studios
1242 West 134th Street Gardena, CA 90247
Everyone in the show, including models, designers and staff, come from diverse backgrounds who have been historically excluded from the industry. This is not just about clothes! Each designer uses their work to create impact in the fashion world.
Our line of handcrafted, made in Los Angeles designs are simple, elegant and timeless. Small-run productions and One-of-a-kind designs are informed by fabrics we source locally and sustainably. Too much of a good thing is wonderful!
“Take up space and don’t let anyone tell you you’re “too much.”
Rebirth Garments challenges mainstream beauty standards that are sizest, ableist, and conform to the gender binary.
The line creates a community where all people can confidently express their individuality and identity. Our identity is that of Queer, Mad and Disabled, which encompasses queer, gender nonconforming identities and apparent/ non-apparent disabilities/ disorders—physical, mental, psychological, intellectual, developmental, emotional, etc. In particular, our trans and disabled communities have very particular clothing needs that are not adequately served by mainstream clothing designers. Instead of being centered on cisgender, heterosexual, white, thin people, Rebirth Garments is centered on Queer and Disabled people.
Denman's mission is to use his own platform and privilege to create social change, share cultural narratives, and humanize the experiences of underserved communities through artistic mediums. He believes fashion is an all-encompassing art that is movement, design, and architecture juxtaposed in political, social, and cultural contexts.
As a fashion designer, Denman is known for his avant-garde creations, unique silhouettes and construction techniques, and emotional storytelling. Denman believes that, together, people can ignite a culture of change through creativity and curiosity.
Streetwear with a purpose is in our DNA. Our collections and designs are centered around releasing impactful messages geared towards driving conversations and inspiring positive change.
But our work doesn't end here. We are a group of creatives, leaders, and doers with a commitment to championing our community voices and stories. Through our annual Family Drive, Family Market & Cafe, Family Portrait and Neighborhood events, we reimagine the possibilities of collective work with trusted voices in our community to celebrate and participate in impactful experiences.
NYI or not your inspiration is a fashion brand started by blind designer Natalie Trevonne and artist Ernest Spicer with a mission to bridge the gap between disability and the fashion industry. Each garment is made carefully with the idea of making style that you can touch. As a blind woman, Natalie identifies her clothes by textures so she wanted to create a fashion line that makes the getting dressed process easier for those who are blind or low vision.
“Don’t just look good, feel good!”
We are grateful to our sponsors for supporting fashion inclusivity and accessibility in the industry.
